In December 2021, Mr Papuna Lezhava, Vice Governor of the National Bank of Georgia  officially took over the position of Chairman of the Group of Banking Supervisors from the Central and Eastern Europe (BSCEE).

The National Bank of Georgia became a member of the Group in 2013 and has been actively involved in its work since then. The BSCEE Group brings together 26 Member Institutions from 25 CEE countries and aims to promote closer cooperation between the banking supervisors of its Members. According to the Agreement governing the organisation of the BSCEE, the Chair is elected from its Members Institutions every year. Georgia first chaired the Group in 2018, and then again was elected as one at the BSCEE Annual Conference in May 2021.
